Ammotragus is a genus of large, horned mammals belonging to the Bovidae family. The most common synonym for Ammotragus is the Barbary sheep, as well as being referred to as the Aoudad, the Arrui, and the Waddan. Barbary sheep are distinguished by their distinctive long and curved horns that can grow to be over 30 inches long. They are native to the rocky mountainous regions of North Africa and are known for their excellent climbing skills, making them very difficult to hunt.
