Androgenesis refers to a type of reproduction in which the male parent's genetic material is the only one involved in the offspring's development. There are several synonyms for this term, including paternal genome elimination, haploidization, androgenic development, and gynogenesis. Paternal genome elimination refers to the process by which the male genome is not present in the offspring. Haploidization denotes the production of haploid cells from the diploid cells, which results in a uniparental genetic makeup in the offspring. Androgenic development refers to purely males development. Gynogenesis is another form of unisexual reproduction where the egg is activated by the sperm, but none of the sperm's DNA enters the zygote, leading to an all-female population of offspring.
