Arctictis Bintourong, also known as the bearcat, is a nocturnal mammal native to Southeast Asia. It's a solitary and arboreal species that feeds on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. The genus name Arctictis refers to its bear-like appearance, while Bintourong is derived from the Malay language, meaning "tree cat." Synonyms for the bearcat include the Asian bearcat, the Palawan bearcat, the Bornean bearcat, and the Malay bearcat. It's also commonly referred to as the bearcub or the musang in some regions. Despite its name, the bearcat is not a bear, nor is it a feline, but a unique and distinct mammal in its own right.
