Cacomixle, also known as ring-tailed cat, is a mammal native to North and Central America. There are several synonyms for this animal, including bassariscus astutus, civet cat, miner's cat, and even coon cat due to its coloring resembling that of a raccoon. The name ring-tailed cat comes from its unique tail, which is longer than its body and has black and white bands. Cacomixle are mostly nocturnal and are skilled climbers and hunters, often feeding on small mammals, birds, insects, and fruits. Despite their name, they are not closely related to cats but instead belong to the raccoon family.
