ATP-dependent RNA helicases are enzymes required for all aspects of RNA metabolism ranging from RNA splicing to translation initiation. RNA molecules comprising these enzymes contain a conserved ATP-Binding RNA Motif termed as Atypical Protein Kinase C (APKC) RNA Motif. This motif is a short sequence of nucleotides crucial for the functioning of ATP-dependent RNA helicases. Alternative synonymous terms for ATPC RNA Motif include DEAD-box RNA helicase motif, ATP-dependent helicase motif, ATP-binding motif, and RNA helicase motif. Although these synonymous motifs may refer to the same nucleotide sequence, they are used interchangeably in different research fields to describe the function of ATP-dependent RNA helicases.
