Attention deficit disorder, also known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), is a common disorder that affects both children and adults. ADHD is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Although the term ADHD is well-known, there are many other synonyms for the condition that are equally common, including hyperkinetic disorder, minimal brain dysfunction, and hyperactivity syndrome. Other terms such as ADD and attention deficit syndrome are used interchangeably with ADHD but these terms are now considered outdated and no longer used in formal clinical settings. ADHD is a lifelong condition that can be successfully managed with the right support, education, and treatment.
