Among the troops engaged on the 2nd Army front were the Australians and South-Africans, Welsh and Scottish battalions, and many of the old English regiments, including the Cheshires, Warwicks, Worcesters, Staffords, Wiltshires, Gloucesters, berkshires, Oxford and Bucks, York and Lancashires, Sherwood Foresters, and Rifle Brigade.
