The blastosphere, also known as blastula, is the hollow ball of cells formed during the early development of an embryo. There are several synonyms for blastosphere or blastula, depending on the organism and stage of development. In mammals, it is called a blastocyst, while in birds, it is known as a blastoderm. In some invertebrates, such as sea urchins, the blastosphere is referred to as a blastula, while in amphibians, it is called a blastocoel. Additionally, in some plants, the blastula stage is called the globular stage. These different terms all refer to the same stage of embryonic development and are used according to the species under study.
