The Bluegrass region of Kentucky is known for its rolling hills, horse farms, and distinct culture. Although it is commonly referred to as the Bluegrass region, there are several synonyms that refer to this area of the state. Some refer to it as the "Horse Country" due to the abundance of horse farms and racetracks in the area. Others call it the "Thoroughbred Region" because of the high-quality horses bred and raised in this area. Some may refer to it as the "Bourbon Country" because of its ties to the bourbon industry. The "Central Kentucky" region is also used to describe the Bluegrass area.
