The book lung is a respiratory organ found in arachnids, such as spiders, and some other arthropods. This unique organ resembles the pages of a book, hence the name. However, there are other terms used to describe this organ, including folio lung, laminar lung, and plate lung. These synonyms are all derived from the book-like structure of the lung, as each "page" or plate is covered with tiny air sacs called lamellae.
