A boom box is a familiar term used for a portable music player that produces loud and thumping music. Though this term has been in use for decades, there are other synonyms for the same, such as a ghetto blaster, jam box, and sound system. In the 80s and 90s, these machines were popular among teenagers, who used boom boxes to listen to music while on the move. Some of the old school boom boxes were bulky and featured duel cassette decks, an equalizer, and bass and treble knobs. However, with the advancement of technology, boom boxes have become compact and now come with features such as Bluetooth, USB ports, and SD card slots.
