Burhinus Oedicnemus is a species of bird commonly known as the Eurasian thick-knee or stone-curlew. This bird can be found in grasslands, savannas, and other open habitats across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Some synonyms for this species include the bush stone-curlew, medium stone-curlew, or just the stone-curlew.
Other related species include the great stone-curlew or the beach stone-curlew, which are both found in Australia and some Pacific islands. The Burchell's courser, a ground-dwelling bird with a similar appearance found in Africa, is also often confused with the Eurasian thick-knee. However, despite its numerous names, the Burhinus Oedicnemus remains a fascinating and distinct species in the avian world.
