Candlemas Day, otherwise known as the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ, is a Christian holiday celebrated on February 2nd. This day has been associated with several synonyms such as Groundhog Day or Imbolc. The term Groundhog Day arises from the belief that this day signifies the end of winter and start of spring, and is celebrated by observing the behavior of groundhogs. Imbolc, on the other hand, is a Gaelic festival that marks the beginning of spring and honours the goddess Brigid. Other regional synonyms include Brigid's Day, La Chandeleur (in France), and Dia de la Candelaria (in Mexico). Regardless of the synonym, these celebrations all revolve around the concepts of new beginnings and light in the darkness.
