The Cape Cod Canal, also known as the Cape Cod Waterway, is a 17.4-mile long artificial waterway that connects Cape Cod Bay and Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts. It is one of the busiest shipping canals in the United States and has become a popular spot for recreational activities such as boating, fishing and biking. Additionally, it is also sometimes referred to simply as "the Canal" or as the "Bourne Canal", due to its location in the town of Bourne. Other synonyms for the Cape Cod Canal can include the "Cape Cod Channel", "Cape Canal", or "Cape Cod Cut".
