Ceratosaur is a term used to describe a group of carnivorous dinosaurs with distinct features such as a horned snout and sharp, curved teeth. These dinosaurs were part of the earliest carnivorous dinosaurs that existed during the Jurassic Period. Although there are no direct synonyms for ceratosaurs, related terms refer to similar types of dinosaurs that were active during the same period. These terms include Allosaurus, Dilophosaurus, and Torvosaurus, among others. These dinosaurs had similar features to ceratosaurs and were also apex predators during their time. With new discoveries constantly being made, the taxonomy and classification of these prehistoric creatures continue to evolve.
