Cervus Nipon is a species of deer commonly found in Japan, also known as the sika deer. The word sika is of Japanese origin and has become a popular synonym for Cervus Nipon in English language. Other synonyms for this species include the Japanese deer, nihonjika, the Manchurian deer, and the Spotted deer. In addition, the term "Japanshirsch" is used to describe the sika deer in German language. These deer have a distinctive spotted coat and are renowned for their antlers, which are shed and regrown annually.
