Chadwick's sign refers to the bluish or purplish discoloration of the cervix, vagina, or vulva that can occur during pregnancy. Although this sign is named after James Chadwick, who first described it in the 19th century, there are other synonyms that can also be used to describe this phenomenon. These include "cyanosis of the cervix", "Chadwick's cyanosis", "Chadwick's syndrome", and "pelvic cyanosis". These terms all refer to the same clinical finding and are used interchangeably to describe the blue or purple coloration that can be seen in the genital area during pregnancy.
