Churg-Strauss syndrome is a rare autoimmune disorder that affects small blood vessels in the body. Also known as eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, the disease causes inflammation in the lungs, skin, and other organs. Individuals with Churg-Strauss syndrome may experience symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, skin rashes, and muscle pain. While there are no direct synonyms for Churg-Strauss syndrome, the condition is often grouped together with other vasculitis disorders, such as Wegener's granulomatosis and polyarteritis nodosa. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to manage symptoms and prevent long-term complications. Steroids and other immunosuppressive medications may be used to reduce inflammation and improve quality of life for patients with Churg-Strauss syndrome.
