Computer assisted tomographies (CAT) is commonly known as CT scans, which are diagnostic imaging procedures that generate detailed three-dimensional images of internal organs and other structures within the body. CT scans use a combination of X-rays and computer technology to create high resolution images of the body. Some synonyms for CT scans include computed axial tomography (CAT scan), computerized tomography (CT), and computed tomography imaging (CTI). These terms are often used interchangeably in medical jargon. Regardless of the term used, CT scans are commonly used to detect and diagnose a variety of medical conditions, including fractures, tumors, and internal bleeding.
