Cotula is a genus of flowering plants in the Asteraceae family that includes a range of species found mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. Though the name "cotula" is generally used to refer to these plants, there are other terms that can be used interchangeably. Similar words include the common names buttonweed and brass buttons, which refer to small, round flower heads that resemble buttons, as well as the scientific name Leptinella, a sub-genus of Cotula named for its similarity to another genus, Leptinella. In addition, some specific species of Cotula have their own unique names, such as the blue-eyed Daisy (Cotula australis) and the golden cotula (Cotula coronopifolia).
