Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a rare, degenerative and fatal brain disorder caused by abnormal proteins called prions. The disease is also known as Jakob-Creutzfeldt syndrome, spongiform encephalopathy, scrapie, or prion disease. It affects the central nervous system and causes rapidly progressive dementia, muscle stiffness, and involuntary movements. CJD is a variant of the Mad Cow Disease, which is caused by consuming contaminated meat products. Currently, there is no cure for CJD, and treatment is focused on managing symptoms and providing supportive care. It is important to note that CJD is not contagious, and there is no evidence of transmission through casual contact or air.
