Edmontosaurus is a large, herbivorous dinosaur species that lived during the Cretaceous period. It was first discovered in Edmonton, Alberta, hence the name. However, this dinosaur has other synonyms, including Anatotitan, Claosaurus, and Trachodon. Anatotitan means "duck-duck", referring to its duck-like beak. Claosaurus is derived from the Greek words for "broken lizard", due to its fragmented fossils. Trachodon means "rough tooth", referring to its ridged teeth.
