Enchondroma is a benign cartilage tumor that usually develops inside the bone. Synonyms for this condition include intramedullary cartilage tumor, chondroma, and enchondromatosis. Enchondromas can be found in any bone, but they are most commonly found in the small bones of the hands and feet. They may also be found in the long bones of the arms and legs. Enchondromas are usually asymptomatic, but they can cause pain or weakness in the affected limb if they grow and become large enough to weaken the bone.
