The European Toad, also known as Bufo bufo, is a common amphibian species found throughout Europe and parts of Western Asia. In addition to its scientific name, this species is known by a number of common names in different regions. In the UK, it is simply referred to as the Common Toad. In parts of Germany, it is called Kröte. In France, it is known as Crapaud and in Spain, it is called Sapo común. Other alternative names for the European Toad include the Common European Toad and the Brown Toad. Regardless of the name used, these toads are an important part of the ecosystem and play a key role in keeping pest populations in check.
