"Fendant" is a French term that refers to a type of wine grape grown primarily in the Valais region of Switzerland. The grape is also known as "Chasselas," but has several other synonyms depending on the region and dialect. In the French-speaking part of Switzerland, it may be called "Gutedel," "Fendant blanc," or "Morillon blanc." In Germany, it is known as "Gutedel," while in Austria, it is called "Perle von Csater."
