Fore-topmast is a nautical terminology that denotes a wooden or metal mast situated at the forward section of a ship. This mast rises from the foremast to the fore-topgallant masthead. This term has various synonyms based on the context or the region. In some cases, it is referred to as fore-topgallant-mast, topmast, or main topmast. In earlier times, fore-topmast was also called a topmast pole. Similarly, in some languages, it is known as a "Stagsegelmast" in German, "mât de perroquet" in French, and "albero maestro dell'alberatura di trinchetto" in Italian. Regardless of the term used, the fore-topmast has a crucial role in a ship's rigging system and navigation.
