The French Revolutionary calendar was a unique calendar system that was used in France between 1793 and 1805. This calendar was also referred to as the Republican calendar, the Revolutionary calendar, or the French Republican calendar. The system consisted of twelve months with unique names such as Vendemiaire, Brumaire, and Thermidor. The months were divided into three ten-day weeks, and each day was given a unique name such as Primidi, Duodi, and Tridi. The purpose of the French Revolutionary calendar was to create a new system of time that was separate from the Gregorian calendar and the Roman Catholic Church.
