Genus Anoa is a type of small buffalo native to the islands of Sulawesi and Buton in Indonesia. It is also commonly known as dwarf buffalo or midget buffalo. Other synonyms for the Genus Anoa include Bubalus depressicornis, Anoa Mindorensis, Anoa Depressed Cornel and Celebovanus depressicornis. These animals typically inhabit the dense tropical forests of their native range and are known for their distinctive small size, with adult males weighing only around 300-330 kg. Despite their small stature, they are powerful and agile animals with sharp horns that they use to defend themselves against predators. The Genus Anoa is considered an endangered species due to habitat loss and hunting pressure.
