Genus Anomala is a group of beetles that includes over 300 different species. Due to their large range of species, there are several synonyms for the group including Anomalini, Diplotaxini, and Schizonychini. These synonyms are used in different classifications, and while they refer to different groups of beetles, they are often used interchangeably. Some of the species within the genus have their own synonyms as well, such as Anomala corpulenta being called Diplotaxis corpulenta. Despite the various classifications and synonyms, all of the species in Genus Anomala share certain characteristics, including their oval shape, relatively small size, and often metallic coloring.
