Genus Capparis is a group of plants containing about 250 different species, commonly known as capers or caper bushes. These plants are native to the Mediterranean region, but also grow in other parts of the world including Asia, Africa, and Australia. The word "caper" is often used as a common name for these plants, but there are other synonyms available for the Genus Capparis. Some of these include "caperberry", "caper tree", "flinders rose", and "wild caper". These terms are often used interchangeably to refer to the Genus Capparis, its different species, and their edible fruits and buds which are widely used in cooking and as a condiment.
