Genus Mesohippus is the scientific name given to an extinct genus of small, three-toed horses that lived during the Eocene epoch, around 40 to 30 million years ago. They were the first horses to develop teeth that were suited to grazing and were known for their speed and agility. Although there is no equivalent term for Genus Mesohippus in everyday language, some synonymous words that could describe the animal could be "prehistoric horse," "Eocene horse," or "small three-toed equine." Its scientific name, however, is the most precise way to refer to this interesting and important species in evolutionary history.
