Genus Neophron is a group of large vultures found in several parts of the world. These birds are also known by other names, including Egyptian vulture, white scavenger vulture and pharaoh's chicken. Other synonyms for genus Neophron include the Oriental vulture, the European vulture, and the African white vulture. These vultures are typically scavengers that feed on carrion, and are known for their characteristic bald heads and white plumage. Despite their name, these vultures are not actually related to the true eagles, falcons, or hawks. They instead belong to the Accipitridae family, a group that includes most of the world's vultures and eagles.
