Genus Pterocarya is a type of tree that belongs to the walnut family, Juglandaceae. There are four species of Pterocarya found worldwide and each species bears different names in different regions. For instance, Pterocarya fraxinifolia is called Caucasus Wingnut, Persian Walnut, or Turkish Hazel, while Pterocarya rhoifolia is known as Chinese Wingnut or Sichuan Wingnut.
