The giant anteater is a unique animal found in the rainforests of South and Central America. This animal is also known as the ant bear, and sometimes called the Oso Hormiguero, which means "ant-eating bear" in Spanish. Another common name for this animal is the tamandua, which is derived from the Tupi language meaning "swallower of ants". The scientific name for this animal is Myrmecophaga tridactyla which also refers to its behavior of eating ants.
