A guitar player, also known as a guitarist, may be referred to in a number of different ways depending on the context and style of music they play. In jazz and blues, a guitarist may be called a "picker" or a "strummer" while in rock and metal they are often referred to as a "shredder" or a "axe wielder". Other common synonyms include a "six-string player", "fretboard wizard", "string bender" and "guitar hero". The term "musician" is also frequently used to describe someone who plays the guitar professionally, while "busker" or "street performer" can be used to describe someone who plays for tips or entertainment on the streets.
