Half-rhymes or imperfect rhymes are words that contain similar sounds, but are not exact rhymes. Some synonyms for half-rhymes include slant rhymes, off-rhymes, and near-rhymes. Slant rhymes, also known as oblique rhymes, involve the use of words with similar but not identical vowel sounds, such as "love" and "dove" or "lime" and "time." Off-rhymes are similar to slant rhymes, but may also involve different consonant sounds, such as "man" and "moon" or "feet" and "meet." Near-rhymes, or consonance rhymes, involve using words with similar consonant sounds, such as "steady" and "study" or "borrow" and "barrow".
