Huntington disease is a neurological disorder that damages the cells in the brain causing involuntary movements, cognitive and behavioral impairments. It is also known as Huntington's chorea due to the characteristic choreic movements exhibited by patients. Huntington's disease has several synonyms such as Huntington's chorea, Huntington's dementia, Huntington's disorder, and HD. Although these terms have been used interchangeably, they all refer to the same genetic condition that affects the nervous system. HD is a progressive disorder that can manifest at any age, and there is no known cure for it. However, there are treatments available to manage the symptoms and improve patients' quality of life.
