Inanna, also known as Ishtar, is a goddess of ancient Mesopotamian mythology. She was worshipped as the goddess of love, beauty, fertility, warfare, and wisdom. Inanna is often associated with the planet Venus and was considered the queen of heaven. In Sumerian mythology, she is sometimes referred to by the name Ninanna, which means "lady of the heavens." Other synonyms for Inanna include Ashtoreth, Astarte, and Aphrodite, all of which refer to goddesses of love and sexuality. She is also associated with other gods and goddesses, including Dumuzi, the god of shepherds, and Ereshkigal, the goddess of the underworld.
