The Iroquois League, also known as the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, was a Native American confederation made up of several tribes including the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and later, the Tuscarora. The League was formed in the 16th century and was based on the principles of peace, cooperation, and mutual respect. Synonyms for the Iroquois League could include Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Six Nations Confederacy, Six Nations of the Grand River, or simply The Six Nations. The Iroquois Confederacy was a model for the United States Constitution and is considered an important part of Native American history.
