Joshua Tree is a distinct species of tree commonly found in the southwestern United States. It is also known as the yucca brevifolia, the tree yucca, or simply the yucca tree. Other synonyms for the Joshua Tree include the Mohave yucca, the yucca palm, and the palm tree yucca. Although it is sometimes referred to as a cactus, the Joshua Tree is actually a member of the lily family and has also been likened to a giant succulent. The tree is known for its unique appearance, with long, spiky leaves and a thick, sturdy trunk that can grow up to 20 meters tall.
