Kiss-ups are individuals who flatter and praise someone in order to gain their favor or achieve personal gain. These terms refer to people who are willing to do almost anything to please someone, rather than standing up for their own beliefs or principles. Kiss-ups often pretend to be someone they are not or project a false image just to get on someone's good side. While there may be occasions where acting in a pleasant manner is appropriate, being a constant kiss-up is not only disingenuous but can also be viewed as being manipulative.
