Lechwe is a type of antelope found in southern Africa. It is also known by other names such as puku, red lechwe, and Southern lechwe. The puku is a similar species found in Zambia and the Congo, while the red lechwe is a variation found in Botswana. The Southern lechwe, found in Angola, Namibia, and Zambia, is the largest and most colorful out of the three. Though they each have slightly different physical characteristics, they are all known for their ability to wade through wetlands and their impressive jumping abilities. Regardless of their names or locations, lechwe remain a coveted sight on any African safari.
