Lubavitch, also known as Chabad, is a branch of Hasidic Judaism that originated in the town of Lubavitch, Russia. While Lubavitch is a unique term, there are several synonyms that are commonly used to refer to this group. Some of these synonyms include Chabad-Lubavitch, Chabad, Lubavitcher, and Lubavitcher Hasidic. Each of these synonyms refers to the same group of Hasidic Jews who follow the teachings of their Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
