Lymphography is a medical imaging technique to visualize the lymphatic system in the body. However, there are various synonyms for this word that are used interchangeably in the medical field. They include lymphangiography, lymphoscintigraphy and lymphography. Lymphangiography uses a contrast dye to visualize the lymphatic system while lymphoscintigraphy is a nuclear medicine imaging procedure that involves injecting a small amount of radioactive material to generate an image. Lymphography is a more general term that encompasses both techniques. Additionally, newer imaging methods such as magnetic resonance lymphography and computed tomography lymphography are becoming increasingly popular due to their higher accuracy and lower invasiveness.
