The Mid-Atlantic States are a region of the United States comprising of various states stretching from New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey down to Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. This region is also known by several synonyms, including the Mid-Atlantic Region, the Middle Atlantic States, and the Middle Atlantic Region. Additionally, some people refer to this area as the I-95 corridor, referencing the busy interstate that runs through many of the region's largest cities. The term Chesapeake Region is also occasionally used, referencing the Chesapeake Bay, which borders several Mid-Atlantic States. Regardless of what terminology is used, the Mid-Atlantic States represent a rich and vibrant region of the United States with a unique cultural and historical identity.
