Myxocephalus Aenaeus, commonly known as the copper rockfish, is a species of fish found in North American waters. Some synonyms for this species include Sebastes caurinus, Sebastophorus caurinus, Sebastodes caurinus, and Sebastodes caurus. Copper rockfish are typically found in rocky reef habitats at depths of 10 to 150 meters and can grow up to 38 centimeters in length. They are characterized by their copper-colored scales, black spots, and protruding lower jaw. Copper rockfish are an important commercial and recreational fish species, but overfishing and habitat destruction have led to population declines. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this species and their habitat.
