Nuclear terrorism, also known as radiological terrorism, is a term used to describe the use of nuclear weapons or materials to cause destruction, death, and chaos. Other synonyms include radioactive terrorism, nuclear sabotage, nuclear war threat, and atomic terrorism. Unconventional weapons, dirty bombs, and nuclear devices are other terms used to describe the same phenomenon. Nuclear terrorism is considered one of the deadliest forms of terrorism known to man, and it is a global concern. The United Nations has set up mechanisms to counteract nuclear terrorism, and nuclear-armed countries have agreed to reduce their weapon stockpiles to prevent terrorism. Despite these efforts, the risk of nuclear terrorism remains a real threat to global security.
