The Oedipus Complex is a term that is used to describe a psychoanalytic theory developed by Sigmund Freud. This theory states that young boys develop sexual desires for their mothers and view their fathers as rivals. While the term is widely recognized, there are also a few synonyms that are used to describe this concept. Some of these synonyms include the Electra Complex, which is a similar theory that applies to young girls and their fathers, as well as the incestuous desire theory. Other terms, such as the Freudian Triangle and the psychosexual stage of development, are often used to describe this concept as well.
