Phulka, also known as "roti" or "chapati", is a round, flatbread usually made from wheat flour and cooked on a griddle or tawa. The word "phulka" is commonly used in North India, while "roti" and "chapati" are more widely used across the country. Other regional synonyms for phulka include "pulka" in South India, "phulko" in Gujarat and Maharashtra, "bakhri" in Rajasthan, and "naan" in Punjab. Despite the different names, these breads are all similar in shape, texture, and taste. They are a staple food item in many Indian households and are usually served with curries, vegetables, or lentils.
