Placentation refers to the way in which the placenta attaches to and nourishes the developing fetus during pregnancy. Some synonyms for this term include placental attachment, fetal nutrition, and embryonic implantation. Placenta formation, also known as chorioangiogenesis, is another term that describes the growth and development of the placenta. Additionally, placentography is used to describe the detailed imaging of the placenta through ultrasound or other medical imaging techniques. While these terms may not be as commonly used as "placentation", they are all important in understanding the development and function of the placenta during pregnancy.
